The Glossier look locked millennial makeup lovers in a chokehold, with the natural beauty trend becoming a staple for both them and Gen Z. However, as the trend balances between “no makeup makeup” looks, bold beauty, and really—wearing your makeup however you want, Glossier is arming its community with a new product. Enter: G Suit, Glossier’s new opaque lipstick. In an exclusive interview with ELLE, Kleo Mack, Chief Marketing Officer, Glossier, says, “This launch marks an exciting inflection point for Glossier makeup. Our makeup is credited with spearheading the light-touch makeup movement— products that give a skincare-like glow. Our real mission—the mission all along—is to develop products that work for you, not products that make you work for them. We’re not about a singular look. We’re after the best experiences, period—the experiences that let you define your personal beauty style for yourself.”

The brand teased its new launch, dropping its moodboard for the product on Instagram, which features various “suits”—including a tracksuit, a birthday suit, a power suit, and a swimsuit. “We created G Suit to stand out—on the wearer, within our lip portfolio, and in the industry. We want to break barriers on how, when, and where bold lipstick shows up to enhance the wearer’s personality and mood. G suit is all about ‘suiting yourself,’ creating the space for you to decide your look,” Mack says.

The lipstick comes in nine different shades: Drive (a rich, warm, brown), Shift (a deep burgundy), Jet (a true blue-red), Strike (a burnt orange-red), Curve (a cool, dusty mauve), Flip (a warm peony pink), Tempo (a rich fuschia berry), Lane (a natural brown), and Pilot—a bright, cool pink that’s also a Glossier exclusive. According to Mack, the shades were inspired by bold color to ignite a feeling of complete confidence, no matter where your day may take you. “We created shades that felt robust, vigorous, and inspired by movement. We want this color palette to empower the wearer to stand out and reach their full potential, in one full swipe,” reveals Mack.

The G Suit packaging features a signature Glossier pink tube with a peek-a-boo winow at the base of the barrel to reveal the formula shade at a quick glance. Featuring a doe foot applicator, you can easily line and fill in your lips if you want a bold finish. If you are seeking a soft focus, diffused look, apply to the middle of your lips and blend out the edges with your fingertips or a lip brush.

It took the Glossier team three years to develop and perfect G Suit. The texture and look of the lipstick is inspired by the soft-touch silicone material you see with phone cases. The luxe demi-matte créme formula glides on smoothly and delivers a high pigment payoff in one swipe. It is formulated with lip-loving ingredients like shea butter to provide your mouth with antioxidants and fatty acids, while the rose wax silica gives a blurring, soft-touch effect. The black raspberry seed oil helps to moisturize dry lips and the orchid complex is responsible for the easy glide on application.

The lipstick officially launches on April 25th on Glossier.com and in Glossier stores and on May 5, it will be available on Sephora.com and in Sephora stores. The lipstick costs $22. The ELLE team got our hands on it early and it definitely delivers with pigment payoff and a comfortable feel for all-day wear. We’re sure this new lipstick will “suit” you.
