As the pioneer of luxury aesthetic dentistry, it makes sense that Dr. Michael Apa, DDS, is always looking toward the future. Known for his custom veneers made of ceramics that closely mimic real teeth, Dr. Apa has become something of a veneer whisperer. His services are highly sought after, with celebrities often flitting in and out of his existing offices in New York, Dubai, and Los Angeles. Now, patients will be able to visit Apa Aesthetics in another global city: Miami.
Located in the heart of downtown Miami, the new space is a natural step for Dr. Apa. “The city is making a name for itself in technology, innovation, and the arts,” Dr. Apa exclusively tells ELLE.com. “It is the perfect location for Apa Aesthetic’s fourth office and a place where we can serve both new and existing patients.”
Dr. Apa brought in the same architecture team behind Apa on Six, his iconic New York City office. Kenneth Park Architects was in charge of a custom buildout in the new space. Interior designer Nina Takesh, who boasts clients like Jennifer Lopez and Madonna, brought the space to life. More than half of Dr. Apa’s clients travel to see him, so making the Miami space a destination was top of mind in each aspect of the design.
“Miami is such a vibrant city, and I wanted to bring that energy into the design,” says Dr. Apa. “Apa offices have a signature look, feel, and sound, but it’s not a copy [and] paste formula. With each office, we want to integrate local elements.”
By blending these local elements into each office, Dr. Apa is able to mark each new chapter in the brand’s journey. To give his new space the Miami spin, Dr. Apa accented the ceilings with custom open woodwork. The result is an airy feel indicative of the city itself.
The office’s design is also inspired by Dr. Apa’s unique approach to dentistry. In fact, the space even mirrors the signature Apa Aesthetic smile. “When you look at someone’s smile, you should never be able to tell where the dentistry begins and ends, and my offices reflect that aesthetic,” says Dr. Apa. “The terrazzo floor is free of any seams or grout lines. Similarly, the custom fabric walls and soaring white ceilings are entirely seamless.”
At the end of the day, the new Apa Aesthetic still has all of the same features that Dr. Apa’s clients know and love. The office has an in-house ceramics lab, top-of-the-line technicians and ceramicists, and treatment rooms tailored to comfort and efficiency.
As Dr. Apa keeps looking ahead, one thing is clear: each new office will help him reach his goal of making dentistry more want-based rather than just need-based, as it’s been for so long. The new Miami office is one more piece of the puzzle.
