Girls that love to glow, get your coins together, because Rare Beauty, Selena Gomez’s vegan, cruelty-free beauty brand, has a new product for you. Beginning today, you can purchase the Positive Light Precision Highlighter and its accompanying makeup brush. If you’re ready for a powder highlighter that gives you a natural looking, glass-like glow sans the stress a liquid highlighter can cause, we suggest you get your hands on this release, stat.
The Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter is perfect for beginners and makeup experts alike. The talc-free formula goes on in powder form, but instantly melts into your skin for a glowy, dewy, and smooth look. Using prismatic microshimmers, the highlighter creates a semi-sheer shine, enhancing your skin’s natural warmth and light.
“It’s truly lightweight and goes on like silk, and I love the natural sheen it gives you—I’ve never seen a highlighter like this,” Gomez shares exclusively with ELLE.com.
The product also comes in a compact that can slide easily in your makeup bag for a weekend away, or your bag for a day at the office. Not to mention, the Positive Precision Highlighter Makeup Brush picks up a lot of product, and a little goes a long way. Gently sweep the brush across your powder compact and apply in light strokes, or press it into your skim and blend in. Once you apply, you won’t need to do a touch-up for hours, if at all. “It’s small enough that it gives me full control of where I highlight, but fluffy enough to make blending easy,” the Only Murders in the Building star adds. The Positive Precision Highlighter gives your skin a more subtle, sheer shine in comparison to the Positive Light Liquid Luminizer. If using the highlighter brush on the Liquid Luminizer, you only need one or two drops (take our word for it).
I gave the new Positive Precision Highlighter a whirl during Art Basel weekend and it withstood the Florida humidity, occasional cheek to cheek kisses, and didn’t transfer onto my mask. The highlighter boasts being waterproof, transfer proof, and smudge proof for an all day wear. Like most of Rare Beauty’s products, this highlighter has a barely there feel, which I love, and doesn’t weigh down your face. It mixed nicely with my other (non-Rare Beauty) products and creates a beautiful, glazed gleam.
It went on silky smooth and the Flaunt color brought out the natural golden hues of my undertones. While the Positive Light Liquid Luminizer comes in eight shades, the Positive Light Precision Highlighter only comes in four—Enlighten, a cool champagne; Exhilarate, a champagne gold; Flaunt, a rose bronze; and Mesmerize, a true gold. I hope they expand their palette offerings as I’d love a deep bronze or copper offering. The names of the color profiles don’t match their liquid counterpart, which may make it confusing for shoppers.
If you’re looking for an easy to apply, natural highlighter that won’t over power your face, then this is the product for you. You can shop the new Positive Light Precision Highlighter and Makeup brush beginning Tuesday, December 6th at Sephora, Sephora.com, Sephora at Kohls, and RareBeauty.com.
