Outfitting Team USA for over a decade of Games, Ralph Lauren has debuted its 2022 Winter Olympics opening ceremony collection. The opening ceremony anorak features “Intelligent Insulation” by Skyscrape — a clothing company that invented smart fabric technology — which responds to the temperature without any electronic components. In colder climates, the fabrics expand to keep the wearer warm and contract in hotter temperatures, reducing the amount of insulation.
The complete outfit includes the anorak, a fleece zip-up jacket, pants, leggings, gloves, socks, and boots. Ralph Lauren announced in a press release that several items in the US-made collection were developed with recycled polyester fiber from recycled plastic bottles.
The Team USA collection will be available on Jan. 20 in select Ralph Lauren stores and on its website. You can learn more about the technology behind the collection through a VR (virtual-reality) experience or an in-store installation featuring six (unnamed) Team USA athletes.
Ahead, preview the collection on nine Olympic athletes, including snowboarder Shaun White and figure skater Alysa Liu.
