I’m just going to get this out of the way. I have ugly hands. It’s okay, though, because this year I finally figured out a way to transform my short, stubby ducking fingers (with nails that never seem to grow past my tips) into literal swan-like digits that get me compliments everywhere I go. Meet the nail brand Static.

Press-on nails are not new to the market. But Static’s durable material and glue that’s so tough that I’ve had pairs stay on for more than three weeks before makes it the best brand I’ve ever tried. Plus, each style is reusable, so while they’re a little more expensive than the drugstore aisle versions, you’re getting both longer and more frequent wear for the price.

While on a recent trip, a friend admired my pair of swirly Static Sway nails and went back to her room to apply a pair of [brand redacted] press-ons. Her version was super cute—but in the next two days, three of them popped off mid-conversation while my beloved press-ons stayed affixed and shiny the entire week after we had parted ways.

The sizing, shape, and style variety is also fantastic. So many friends have complained that even the tiniest nail in press-on kits is too big for their pinky finger (same), but this was the first brand that had tips that comfortably covered all of my nails. When it comes to shapes and styles, Static gives you options, too. Stiletto, ballerina, round, square—solid pastel creams to clear or holographic—I’ve affixed them all to my fingers with one thing in common: the compliments I get.

I’ve sported pairs of Static nails while swimming through the icy blue waters of the Balearic Sea (chic, I know), belly dancing in Lebanon, and through multiple text message “debates” with my ex, and they’ve never budged.

Static nails, you’re the realest fake nails I know.
